Lesson Rates and Pricing

The private lesson rates and studio policies for The Big Blue Music House are very competitive with and comparable to other options in the area. (In other words, I’m a bit cheaper than all the other teachers near me who have the same level of experience and credentials!) Your specific tuition schedule will be suggested at the free no-obligation trial lesson, after the student’s lesson length is determined. The student’s regular lesson length will vary between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the student’s age and level of commitment

The basic tuition philosophy is: The greater the commitment you make to your music studies, the better your per-lesson price. In general, the per-lesson rate is between $24 and $60 depending on the length (30, 45, or 60 minutes) and on how long you commit to your lessons (quarterly, monthly, or individually).

If you prefer to have a better idea of specific rates before scheduling the free trial lesson, then fill out the simple online registration form. This will give me the necessary information to provide a sample tuition schedule.

Quarterly Tuition Option

Quarterly tuition rates and policies are based on a student having 12 regular weekly lessons during a particular quarter and offer the very best per-lesson price. Tuition is paid in full at least 1 week prior to the beginning of the quarter and all 12 lessons are scheduled for the entire 13-week period. Options for rescheduling and making up lessons are available provided there is at least 48 hours notice.

Summer June, July, August
Fall September, October, November
Winter December, January, February

Monthly Tuition Option

Monthly tuition rates and policies are based on a student having 4 regular weekly lessons in a given month. Payments are made on the same day of the month every month. The student has a set day and time for their lesson every week. Options for rescheduling and making up lessons are available provided there is at least 48 hours notice. (Some months have 5 lessons scheduled so the student may have a break or it may be used as a make-up.)

Per-Lesson Tuition Option

It’s a bit more expensive for one lesson at a time, and once a lesson is paid for and scheduled it cannot be changed or cancelled for any reason. However this option sometimes works for students who can’t make a commitment to a regular weekly lesson due to complex and busy schedules or a very light interest in music.

Books and Materials

For beginners, I usually have two different standard starter packages. For students about age 9 or older, the starter package includes 4 books and a music notebook which will cost about $40 total for everything. Younger students have a 2 book package with music notebook which will total about $20. These packages I usually keep here and ready for new students so they can start right away without having to visit different stores to find what they need. For students with previous experience, I am usually fine with continuing work with the current materials and will supplement or replace materials as the student progresses. Most students with previous experience who already have materials will only need to get a music notebook for about $5.
