Instruments

From time to time we have instruments for sale. Some may be second-hand instruments that we buy, fix up in the shop, and then turn around and sell. We may also have instruments for sale on consignment.

All instruments that we buy and put through the shop for sale come with a 90 day warranty. If we don’t think it will be a decent and functional instrument then it would go in the parts bin. And we always try to assess and fully describe an instrument to better match it to the player’s level and needs.

If you are looking for something in particular and don’t see it here, then feel free to contact us. You can let us know what you are interested in and we will keep our eyes and ears open for you. If one should come into the shop or if we encounter somebody that has what you are looking for then we will follow up with you.

Please remember to make an appointment to playtest and see any instruments we have.

Bundy Clarinet

Made by Selmer (c. mid to late 1970s). This is a good standard plastic student clarinet, and would be perfect for any beginner. Also, our usual advice for advancing players that upgrade to a higher quality wood instrument is to keep their student plastic instruments as well! Use the plastic clarinet in marching band or just have it as a backup horn. Bundy instruments have been workhorses for many years. One of the old jokes we repair technicians used to do whenever we heard that a kid had an accident and dropped their Bundy was to ask, “Is the floor okay?” This joke is really a testament to the sturdy and reliable reputation of Bundy instruments. It comes in the original hard case with a mouthpiece, cork grease, and two #2 reeds. It just went through our shop where we replaced some pads, one of the corks, and we playtested and regulated the instrument so it is all ready to go!

Price: $150.00
(Comparable new instruments list for between $650 and $850 depending on the manufacturer!)

La Marque Clarinet

This will make a nice first step-up wood instrument for a student who has been playing at least a few years. We will be doing a full repad and restoration. We plan to use pads that are typically chosen for intermediate and professional instruments. This clarinet is referred to as a “stencil” instrument and was made in a factory in France (c. 1930s – 1950s) and stamped with the La Marque brand name. We will have more information as the restoration progresses.

Price: TBD
(We don’t expect to price this horn any higher than $450 depending on how it plays after the restoration.)
